October 3, 12, 24, 27 | Goin’ to the Chuppah
Goin’ to the Chuppah is Temple’s class for engaged and married couples in their 20s and 30s. Couples learn about building a Jewish home and form relationships with others in the same stage of life. It is a required course for couples being married by Temple clergy. There are two classroom sessions, a Shabbat dinner and Havdalah both in congregant homes. This video is a snapshot of what you’ll experience.
Chuppah is free and is open to any couple – Jewish, interfaith or LGBT – who plan to create a Jewish home/raise future children Jewishly. Married and engaged couples welcome. Goin’ to the Chuppah is a registered TwoTogether in Texas provider which means that couples being married in Texas are eligible for a substantial discount on their marriage license for completing the class. The class is limited to 12 couples and will meet Oct. 3, 12, 24 & 27. We strongly encourage couples to attend at least 3 of the 4 sessions so that you can form relationships with the other participants. If you will miss 2 of the sessions, we suggest you take the class next time it is offered which will be Feb. 2019. We are happy to accommodate participants’ weekday travel schedule for the 2 sessions at Temple by arranging for out-of-town participants to join the class via video conference. Register here!
